Item Name/Description:
An antiquarian book, Edgar Allan Poe, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, illustrated by Harry Clarke.
Starting Bid: $150

Auction Ending: Mar. 13, 2010.
Notes: This is an antiquarian book: Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe, with illustrations by Harry Clarke.  Published by Harrap (London) and Brentano’s (NY), 1923 (undated).

Eight tipped in colour plates & many full page, intricate black and white illustrations. Ltd to 2500 Copies; Black cloth; Thick quarto; No dustjacket.

Very good.  Endpapers slightly foxed, binding and corners rubbed, and some waterstaining to spine, but inside pages secure and clean.  Signed inside “Edward C Marquick (?)1925”.

Other people are currently selling similar ones at (eg) ABE Books at prices between $200-$300 before shipping.

There's photos here.  If anyone wants more pictures (say, of the colour plates, or the b+w illustrations - I've just posted a few examples), please, just ask and it shall be done!

This is a big book - it's 28 cm x 21 cm, and is 4.5 cm thick.  As well as the 8 tipped-in colour plates, there are a further 16 full page b+w plates, as well as many more regular b+w illustrations in the text .  I am prepared to pay for shipping anywhere in the world from the UK , which could easily be worth more than $30.

(I offered this for con_or_bust last year: there was interest but no bids.)

Adapted from Elana's Pantry Recipe, made with Almond Flour & Agave Nectar: http://www.elanaspantry.com/magically-moist-cherry-apricot-cake/

My version features dried cranberries and raisins in place of cherries/apricots; and is a double batch, baked in a 9x13 pan.

I will bake the cake, cut it into 12 rectangular pieces, seal in plastic vacuum bag(s) and ship it to you, anywhere in the continental US via Priority Mail within a week of auction closing.

The flour I use is Honeyville Almond Flour, and is certified gluten free. My kitchen is also gluten free (I don't own/buy flour, and my partner either eats the cakes, etc I make or buys pre-made junk food and keeps them separate).

Minimum bid $15. I want to do the bidding ladder style, so please respond to the previous bid. I'm going to close this auction at midnight Pacific on 3/13/10.
