Offer: custom mix CDs

Yikes, I'm late to the party, but...

Item Name & Description: I am offering one custom mix CD each to the three (3) highest bidders. Bids over $25 will receive two (2) CDs. I will make CDs for the character (ex: Shepherd Book, Jayne, Benton Fraser, Gambit, Faith), pairing (ex: Willow/Tara) general fandom (ex: Firefly), or fannish/general theme (ex: teacher's pets, Child ballads, pirates/sea-faring, urban fantasy) of your choice. You will receive one or two CDs in slimline jewel cases with custom cover art and track listing.

ETA: For bids $30 and up, I will also throw in one additional mix of your choice from my current collection (about 175 to choose from right now) for every $5--so, say you bid $40; you get two custom mixes to your specs and you can choose three (3) mixes from ones I've already made.

I will cover shipping, regardless of destination (yes, I will ship internationally).

Starting Bid: $5

Notes: I may need up to two weeks after the auction closes to make your mix. I request that you have at least one "back-up" request if I feel that I'm unable to do a really good mix for one of your chosen themes. Winners will be requested to tell me five artists/songs that they really like to give me an idea of what direction to go with their chosen themes.

Spicy Hermits: homemade cookies with raisins, walnuts, and coffee

Item Name & Description: I'm offering at least 40 Spicy Hermits, a type of drop cookie which happens to be vegan, and contains (as the name says) a significant amount of spices... And some instant coffee, which I dearly love about them. Also raisins and walnuts. They smell like you are at a resort in Oregon late in the year with the leaves mostly turned, and there is espresso being made down the hall.

Looking at the tags, I added gluten-free: I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work to make them with gluten-free flour, and if it doesn't work and you'd like something gluten-free, I will search until I find a cookie recipe that does work. I could potentially mix this up a bit in other ways, too; I've tried them without nuts for a friend who was allergic, and that's alright; I have dried cherries and other berries if that's more to your taste.

I will also send the recipe to the winner, so that in the future they can make their own if they choose!

Starting Bid: $10

Notes: I will ship by Priority Mail, and hopefully the cookies will ship out Tuesday the 8th (or later, if you'd prefer)

Status update; modified and neglected auctions; wanted: transferred WisCon memberships

Hi all,

The total of the current high bids is approximately $4,000, which is well short of both our goal of $7K and the requests for assistance to this year's WisCon alone, which are currently approaching $9K. I don't know how big a push we can make in the last two days and a bit of the auction, but let's give it a shot.

Here's a quick primer on how to browse auctions, many of which were posted several weeks ago now. And here are some auctions that have been modified or are neglected—no bids, only one bid, or fewer bids than I think they deserve. Please link this post or the general announcement post far and wide!

Modified items:

Items I think deserve more love than they are getting (feel free to add your own!):

Finally, if anyone reading this has a membership to WisCon that they are not going to be able to use and would like to donate to Con or Bust, please contact me at knepveu at steelypips dot org. Thanks very much.

homemade snickerdoodles -- both traditional & vegan offered

Item Name & Description: Snickerdoodles!

Two batches of snickerdoodles: 1 auction for 2 dozen traditional snickerdoodles, 1 auction for 2 dozen vegan snickerdoodles.

I have been making snickerdoodles for about 30 years now and have gotten fairly good at it. These usually get raves wherever i take them. Also, apparently they are freaks of nature and impossible (link goes to my blog where you can see a picture of the cookies and hear the tale of how they are all perfectly-sized without aid of technology). And who would want to miss out on freakishly awesome impossible cookies?? Not you, that's for sure!

Starting Bid: $10 per batch

Notes: I will work with the 2 winners to determine baking/shipping time within the following limits:

- I cannot bake these earlier than sunday, march 27th; i'll leave the Window Of Baking open until sunday, may 1st. We'll work out a time for me to make and send these within these 2 dates.

- I'll ship these USPS Priority Mail within the continental U.S. I've not had experience shipping these outside the Lower 48 and wouldn't feel comfortable engaging in mailing experiments with your cookies.
