World Fantasy Con, Gaylaxicon

This year's World Fantasy Con has donated two sets of a membership and two hotel nights (at the overflow hotel across the street from the main hotel). The World Fantasy Con is a literature-focused con that describes itself as "an annual gathering (almost a reunion) of professionals, collectors, and others interested in the field of Light and Dark Fantasy art and literature." This year, it takes place November 1-4 in Toronto. The themes are Urban Fantasy and Northern Gothic; its guests are: Elizabeth Hand, Author Guest of Honour; John Clute, Encyclopedist Guest of Honour; Richard A. Kirk, Artist Guest of Honour; Gary K. Wolfe, Toastmaster; and Special Guests Charles de Lint, Tanya Huff, Patricia Briggs, Mercedes Lackey, and Larry Dixon.

This year's Gaylaxicon has donated two memberships. It describes itself as "the annual international science fiction, fantasy, horror and comics convention for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered people and their friends." This year, it takes place October 5-7 in Minneapolis. Its theme is GLBT apocalypses and utopias; its Guests of Honor are Gary Russell, Lyda Morehouse, Barbara Schulz, Kyell Gold, Prism Comics, and Sofawolf Press.

Requests for assistance for these cons, and others during October, November, and December, are taken from August 15-25; see this post for detailed instructions.

Please note: Con or Bust defines "fan" broadly as "someone who wants to go to an SFF con"; this set does not exclude "is published or wants to be." In other words, I know that WFC skews heavily towards writers, and if you're non-white/a person of color, don't let having been published stop you from requesting assistance. (And if you're not a writer, don't let that stop you either!)
