Custom Hat in Washable Wool

Originally published at Con or Bust by Zelda. Please comment there ( comment(s)).

Item Name & Description: Custom Hat in Washable Wool

The auction winner will get one hat made to any measurements from their choice of the yarns shown below. All are diVe Zenith, a machine-washable worsted-weight wool that is next-to-skin soft. There is enough purple and enough dark brown to make a solid hat out of either; other colors would have to be accent colors only.

This yarn will show cables and other fancy stitch textures well; I can also do color stripes and/or contrast ribbing (although stranded colorwork or intarsia will not be suitable). I can do the winner’s choice of ear-warming methods: a deep fold-up ribbing, earflaps with or without ties, a helmet style that comes down over the ears and back of the neck, or a beanie with none of the above. More technical details available upon request.

Zenith

Starting Bid: $15 US

Notes: Yarn has lived in a non-smoking household with one dog; the finished item will get laundered just before shipping. I will mail anywhere in North America at no additional cost; for other continents I would ask the auction winner for an additional donation equal to shipping costs. Allow approximately four to six weeks for knitting after we work out a pattern.

Custom Hat in Variegated Wool Blend

Originally published at Con or Bust by Zelda. Please comment there ( comment(s)).

Item Name & Description: Custom Hat in Variegated Wool Blend

The auction winner will get one hat made to any measurements (adult, child, baby (heck, for baby sizes I’d make two)) from their choice of the yarns shown below. Both are Bollicine Maxi, a worsted-weight blend of 70% wool and 30% acrylic that is next-to-skin soft. The pastel has pink, lavender, and pale to light blue; the grey has charcoal, medium grey, white, and a very subtle lavender/almost-grey.

These variegated yarns will look best in a plain knit stitch rather than any fancy texture. I can do the winner’s choice of ear-warming methods: a deep fold-up ribbing, earflaps with or without ties, a helmet style that comes down over the ears and back of the neck, or a beanie with none of the above. More technical details available upon request.
