Thanks to the magic of scheduled posts, bidding on Con or Bust’s annual fundraising auction is now open!

To find things to bid on, use the Google Docs index, browse the 2014 auction tags, or search over in the sidebar. (Note that the information on bids in the index is manually entered and usually not generated until about halfway through the auction.)

Then leave a comment with your bid in U.S. dollars. As long as you enter a working email address and your bid is higher than the last one (even for auctions where the top n bidders win), you’re all set! You can keep track of later bids by email: at the time you bid, check the box that says “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail,” or at any time, enter your email address where it says “Subscribe without commenting.” Bidding ends Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern (note: not the previously-traditional midnight; this is to make it easier for people from a wider range of time zones to put in last-minute bids.)

A precautionary note: publishers, authors, and other donors have generally donated books and other items on the understanding that they will be bid on by fans for their personal use, and not by resellers. Please respect this so that people will feel comfortable continuing to donate to the auction.

Finally: even though bidding has started, you can still offer items for auction, so please do! And more great stuff is coming throughout the week, so keep an eye out.

Item Name & Description: I will provide the winner with a thorough critique of up to 10,000 words of fiction — I have the most experience with short stories, but I’m happy to work on a novel excerpt if you would prefer.

I am the editor-in-chief of Inscription Magazine. My short fiction has appeared in Daily Science Fiction and is upcoming in Beneath Ceaseless Skies — you can read a few examples of my work online: The Taste of Salt and A Change of Heart.

Starting Bid: $15

Notes: You can send the story at any time before April 1st, 2014, and I’ll promise to respond within three weeks. I prefer e-mail correspondence, rather than a print manuscript — if you’d like to have a Skype session about it, that could also be arranged.

Bidding is now open; it closes Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. More Information.

Professional photo editing and photo book design:

I will do post-production (color-correction, exposure correction, light retouching, general “polishing” as needed) of up to 100 images, and then lay them out in a format suitable for the book printer of your choosing (blurb, picaboo, pina zangaro, adoramapix, etc.)

I have been professional photo book/album designer & retoucher for 7 years, primarily working with weddings, but can work with any set of images: family pictures, vacation, documentation of cosplay projects over time, etc. etc.

Examples of my work can be seen at my website, à la carte albums, and reviews are available on Wedding Wire.

Starting Bid: $50

Notes: Design and polished images will be delivered within 30 days of receipt of images.

Bidding is now open; it closes Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. More Information.
