Story / Poem Critique by Bogi Takács

Originally posted at Con or Bust by Bogi Takács. All comments must be made there.

Item Name & Description: I critique your story or poem! Any genre is welcome, maximum length: 7500 words.

I write science fiction, fantasy and uncategorizable oddities. My work has been published in venues like Clarkesworld, Lightspeed, Strange Horizons and Apex.

In addition to general writing-related comments, I can also offer my opinion on topics in my area of expertise and/or I can be your sensitivity reader. I am a psycholinguist by trade and I have also worked as a science and technology journalist in the past. I am a Hungarian Jewish trans person currently living in the US. I have been reviewing and recommending SFF stories and poetry in English since 2010, usually with a focus on marginalized groups and diversity. If your story needs a sensitivity read from someone besides me too, I will tell you about that and refer you to an additional reader, usually a specific person.

I have no topic or genre limitations! I read anything from literary fiction to near-future hard SF to epic fantasy to body horror. I prefer to be notified in advance about violence and sexual content, but that does not mean it is off-limits. A lot of science is fine. Absolutely no science is also fine.

Starting Bid: $50

Other Notes? I am a curmudgeonly curmudgeon and also tend to do line edits while reading for critique. If you don’t want line edits, only general commentary, tell me in advance!

Format: most electronic formats are fine. Preference for OpenDocument (.odt) or Word .doc. LaTeX is also fine 🙂

I will probably be able to send you my comments within a month, and be in touch if there are any delays.
